TRAUMA & EMDR

EMDR and trauma therapy in Stockholm

Traumatic experiences can often be processed and become easier to carry over time. Sometimes, though, what has happened keeps affecting how you feel, your relationships or everyday life – or develops into post-traumatic stress (PTSD).

HOW I WORK WITH TRAUMA

In therapy you get to put words to what has happened and approach what is difficult at a pace that feels safe for you. I provide a clear structure, and we shape the treatment together.

Depending on your needs, I may use EMDR, WET and cognitive interventions as part of the treatment. What matters most is that the treatment feels safe and clear for you.

WHEN WHAT HAPPENED STILL AFFECTS YOU

Trauma can show up in many different ways

Trauma does not always appear as clear memories. For some it means worry and strong physical reactions, for others avoidance or being constantly on guard.

In trauma therapy we work with what still affects you – at a pace that starts with you.

  • Intrusive memories or strong reactions
  • Worry and high tension
  • Avoidance
  • Difficulties following traumatic experiences
  • PTSD or complex trauma-related struggles
  • Events that affect relationships or daily life
EMDR

A method for processing traumatic experiences

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a method used to treat trauma and trauma-related difficulties.

Rather than only talking about what happened, we work structurally with memories and reactions. The goal is not to forget – but that the experience can find another place and stop affecting you in the same way.

Whether EMDR is right for you is not decided before we have met. The treatment always starts from your situation.

WET

Structured trauma processing through writing

WET (Written Exposure Therapy) is a structured method where traumatic experiences are approached and processed through writing.

As with EMDR, your individual situation decides what fits. The methods are tools in the treatment – not ready-made solutions.

THE FIRST STEP

You do not need to know what treatment you need

You do not have to decide on a method before getting in touch. The first conversation is about understanding your situation and what you hope to change – from there we talk together about a suitable next step.
